In their opening game, Hackner defeated Jeff Isaacson (Eveleth, MN) 6-3, then won 8-3 against Shuster and 6-4 against Minnesota's Stephen Dropkin. Hackner won 7-4 against 's Mark Haluptzok, then won 8-2 against Ethan Meyers (Duluth, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
