Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) won 4-3 over Switzerland's Peter de Cruz in the Final of the Swiss Cup Basel, held September 30 - October 2, 2011 in Basel, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 6-5 over Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2011 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland; and won 6-5 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland;
 
Gushue finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Joel Retornaz (Cortina, ITA) 6-5, then went on to lose 7-3 against Claudio Pescia (St. Gallen, SUI). Gushue responded with a 6-4 win over Finland's Aku Kauste. Gushue went on to lose 7-3 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI). Gushue responded with a 8-3 win over David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO). Gushue won 7-2 against Switzerland's Manuel Ruch, then won 8-4 against Marcus Hasselborg (Harnosand, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Swiss Cup Basel Championship title, Gushue earned 25.320 world rankings points along with the $14,887CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 13th place overall with 96.723 total points. Gushue ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 36.995 points earned so far this season.
