Penny Barker (Moose Jaw, SK) won 7-6 over Briane Meilleur (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the DEKALB Superspiel, held November 17 - 20, 2017 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Barker won 4-3 over Ashley Howard (Regina, SK) in the semifinals of the 2017 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-4 over Manitoba's Rhonda Varnes in the quarterfinals.
 
Barker finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Barker defeated Emily Anderson (Broomall, PA) 11-0, then won 8-6 against Manitoba's Rhonda Varnes and 7-1 against Alyssa Calvert (Carberry, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the DEKALB Superspiel Championship title, Barker earned 26.173 world rankings points along with the $7,200CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 42nd place overall with 145.335 total points. Barker ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 90.607 points earned so far this season.
