John Shuster (Duluth, USA) won 8-4 over Rich Ruohonen (Chaska, USA) in the Final of the USA Curling National Championships, held February 9 - 16, 2019 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
 
Shuster finished 8-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Samuel Strouse (Midland, MI) 9-2, then won 8-1 against Chase Sinnett (Medfield, MA) and 9-5 against Scott Dunnam (Dresher, PA). Shuster won 9-5 against Steven Birklid (Seattle, WA), then won 8-3 against Ruohonen and 6-5 against Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN). Shuster went on to lose 9-4 against Mark Fenner (Chaska, USA). Shuster responded with a 9-3 win over Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). Shuster won 9-0 against Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the USA Curling National Championships Championship title, Shuster earned 39.458 world rankings points. For week 27 of the event schedule, Shuster did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Shuster ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
