Carruthers lost 7-5 to Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS). Carruthers lost 8-3 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Carruthers earned 13.039 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
